We are advocating for the right resources and treatments for children with attachment disorders and developmental trauma so families can heal.

I have to try even if I fail. We are opening our nonprofit organization Attach Families here in the Carolinas, to try to help families when no one else will. DCS offers Cardinal in NC and Absolute Total in SC as insurance for mental health for foster and adopted children, they only pay for treatment that is proven not to work, but won’t cover therapies that are KNOWN to work. Talk therapy does not work for these children. Neither does IIH, therapeutic foster care, FCT, or PRTF.

Our goal is to open a center with Attachment Therapy,  Neurofeedback, EDMR, Brain Reorganization Exercises, and parental support that is affordable for these families through grants and fundraising.

Foster and Adoptive families are in desperate need and DSS refuses to help. They force these children into the same talk therapies that everyone already knows doesn’t work. And if a foster family complains that the child needs more help the children are removed and placed in another home thus exasperating the issues with attachment. By the way “this is the reason you hear this child has been in 13 different foster homes.” This is the reason “re-homing” after adoption or 2nd chance adoptions exist. Because there is no help unless you have thousands of dollars for the right treatment.
